tubeRepeater is a simple in-browser tool for segment repeat on YouTube—loop a chosen time range instead of the entire video. There is no app to install: paste a standard embeddable watch URL, set start/end, and practice with repeat and speed controls when available.

What you can do

Set start and end points to loop inside that span, adjust playback speed when the player supports it, and open the Traditional Chinese or English pages using the header language link. This site is static; playback is handled by the official YouTube IFrame Player.

Who it is for

Learners who want to rehearse the same line, explanation, or phrase without hunting timestamps manually; anyone who prefers a minimal UI focused on one clip; and people who want slow and normal speeds for comparison.

Basic steps

1. On the home page, paste a supported YouTube URL and press Load.
2. After playback starts, move to the start position and press Set A.
3. Move to the end position and press Set B (B must be after A).
4. Turn Repeat on to loop the range; pick a speed from the speed row when available.
5. Paste a new URL to switch videos. Click 中文 in the header to open the Traditional Chinese version of this page.

Typical segment-loop workflow

Listen through a sentence or phrase, then shrink the range to the hardest slice. Practice slowly, then return to normal speed. With repeat enabled, playback jumps back near the start as it approaches the end so you stay inside the range.

Direct A/B time input and rewind

You can press Set A / Set B, or type directly into the A/B fields using formats such as 12.5, 1:23, or 1:23.5. Use the 3-second or 5-second rewind buttons when you need to hear the previous phrase again without dragging the YouTube timeline.

Open a video and range from a URL

tubeRepeater can read URLs in the form ?v=VIDEO_ID&a=START_SECONDS&b=END_SECONDS, for example /en/?v=n9yTHhll7Ro&a=263&b=271. This is useful for notes, course material, or links someone else sends you. The site currently supports receiving this format; it does not yet provide a share-link button.

Add to home screen

On supported mobile browsers, you can add tubeRepeater to the home screen and open it like a lightweight web app. This does not make videos available offline: the YouTube embedded player still needs a network connection and an embeddable video.

Standard embeddable videos using these common forms:

• https://youtu.be/VIDEO_ID

Unsupported or likely-to-fail cases

Shorts links, videos that disallow embedding, removed videos, or other restrictions may fail with an error message. Try another publicly embeddable video or double-check the copied URL.

Frequently asked questions

• Which YouTube URLs work in tubeRepeater?

  Use standard embeddable watch URLs such as https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEO_ID or https://youtu.be/VIDEO_ID. The video must be publicly playable with embedding allowed.

• Why are Shorts links not supported?

  Shorts behave differently from regular watch pages. tubeRepeater focuses on reliable parsing for standard watch URLs and does not support Shorts. Use a regular watch URL when available.

• Why do I see an embed disabled or playback error?

  The uploader may have disabled embedding, or the video may be unavailable for external players. tubeRepeater cannot bypass those restrictions—choose another embeddable video.

• I only have a video URL—can I still loop a specific segment?

  Yes. Paste an embeddable watch URL, load the video, set the range, and enable Repeat. The workflow starts from the URL field by design.

• Can a URL open a specific video and A-B range?

  Yes. Use a URL like ?v=VIDEO_ID&a=START_SECONDS&b=END_SECONDS, for example /en/?v=n9yTHhll7Ro&a=263&b=271. The home page reads these parameters and restores the video and range, but there is no share-link button yet.

• Can I repeat a section on my phone?

  Yes. Use the browser menu in Safari or Chrome when the option is available. It only makes opening the site faster; YouTube playback still depends on network access and embed permission.

• How is tubeRepeater different from YouTube’s built-in loop?

  YouTube emphasizes whole-video loops; tubeRepeater emphasizes segment repeat for drills and line-by-line work.

• Do I need a Chrome extension?

  No. tubeRepeater runs as a website on desktop and mobile browsers. Extensions are optional alternatives.

• How can I use segment repeat for language learning or shadowing?
